There will shortly be a vacancy for a short walks organiser for Wednesdays. Anyone wishing to volunteer should contact a member of the
committee.
Exmoor Walking Weekend, 8th-10th August, staying at Pinkery Centre near Simonsbath. There will be long and short walks on Saturday and Sunday, more details can be found in the current walks programme. Members who do not wish to join the led walks are also very welcome. BBQ is planned for the Saturday evening. Maximum cost for Friday and Saturday night accommodation £27. For more information contact Mike Birch (01752 667566) or Martin Hills. (01752 842728)
The buffet supper to mark the last Thurday walk of 2008 will be held at the Devon Tors, Yelverton after a shorter Thursday evening walk led by Ivan. Time: approx 8.15pm on the 21st August. Tickets are £3.50, available from Doreen and Ivan Mead.
Why not follow in the footsteps of the 1240 Perambulation of Dartmoor forest this autumn. The 3 day walk will start and finish at Belstone. Two overnight stays are scheduled for Bellever/Postbridge and Princetown. Available accommodation ranges from hotels, B&Bs, hostels, bunkhouses and camping. Please make your own arrangements. . Please note that there will be no recce before the walk; a perfect chance for our leaders to test their navigational skills. Please bring a torch!

The Endsleigh Estate is open to the public to walk every two years and this year Ivan Mead has kindly offered to lead the walk from Beera Farm to Greystone Bridge on the 19th October. It's 8 miles in length and there are refreshments laid on about halfway through. There is transport back to the start for which there is a small charge. More details can be obtained from Ivan.
This year's Annual General Meeting will be held at Derriford Church Hall on Monday 27th October starting at 7.30pm. After the meeting there will a talk on 'Dartmoor Crosses' by Paul Rendell followed by a wine and cheese buffet. All members welcome.

We are planning (and have booked the hostel) a weekend away at Boscastle for the weekend 14/16th November. It will be along the same lines as previous YHA weekends.
