DARTMOOR WALKS

Dartmoor is a popular source of walks for Plymouth Ramblers. I have provided illustrated descriptions to give a flavour of some of the walks we do up on the Moor.

We are a large and active group, often getting two to three dozen walkers out on our Sunday and Wednesday walks.

Over 80 walks on Dartmoor are described here, with pictures as appropriate and I hope you find them of interest. The approximate distance covered on each walk is included on the list.

Please note that the purpose of these illustrated descriptions is to give you an appreciation of some of Plymouth Ramblers group walks on Dartmoor. They are not intended to present you with a detailed description of a walking route and should not be construed as such.

If you want to see a wide range of Dartmoor and enjoy the walks yourself why not consider joining the Ramblers Association and walking with us.

There is a Dartmoor map under the list of walks with many of the walks selectable from it . As you move the mouse over the map you may, with luck, find a link to a walk in the area. Some browsers are not able to show the map nor the locations on it but it does work with Explorer and Netscape. Although the walks can be easily selected by clicking on the walk from the list, it is a better test of your knowledge of Dartmoor to find them from the interactive map.

Although most of the walks are on the map however where certain walks overlap, only one can appear on the map. If a walk cannot appear on the map it is annotated (NOM - not on map). The Walks Described are:
