April 2006 - Bellever

On Sunday 30th April 20 adults and children and one dog gathered at Postbridge ready to brave the elements and mud and head for Bellever.

The footpath does not stay along the riverside as you would expect – we went through a hotel garden and then along many windy and muddy lanes. The temperature was lower than expected but this did not deter the children from coming in to close contact with the river at our lunch stop. A blue Wellington boot made a bid for freedom but luckily was recaptured by Adam.

The route home went through Bellever town centre and then uphill before the final descent affording panoramic views of Postbridge clapper bridge and rolling Dartmoor scenery beyond. Our youngest member (age 3) made her solo walking debut today – very well done!! The walk was just under four miles.
