May 2006 - Burrator (Bluebells)

On Sunday 14th May 15 children and 11 adults set out from the Burrator Dam car park on the annual Bluebell walk. We follwed yellow spots through the woods to Meavy and spent some time playing around the stepping stones by the ford. The sun shone as we arrived at the Bluebell wood and the flowers were at their very best. Two more 'play' pauses were enjoyed at the rocks just after the wood and in Sheepstor churchyard. We enjoyed seeing the tombs of the Raj of Sarawak and it was noted that the spike on top of the church look like Daleks. The final stop was at the shores of the lake, but we did not linger long and the promise of ice creams at the dam was enough to speed us onward. Perfect weather and a good time was had by all.
