January 2007 - Plymbridge Area

One Sunday in January, despite an ominous weather forecast, a good crowd of intrepid Family Ramblers set off from Plymbridge woods car park.

We wandered up the railway cutting and on towards the old miners cottages which always prove popular for adults resting and children playing and sharing unhealthy sweets.

We then did a loop around a past the weir before stopping for lunch at the viaduct. Sadly lunch was cut short by a short sharp shower.

We then climbed up to the railway track and then the children spent quite some time playing at yet another building hidden in the woods. We then walked vertically uphill to extend the loop back to the car park.

The last few hundred yards were exceedingly muddy and brought home to us how lucky we had been with the weather. Even more so when about half an hour after we set off home torrential rain set in for the rest of the day!
