February 2007 - Combestone Tor Area

On Sunday 4th February 8 children and 8 adults met at Combestone Tor in near arctic conditions.

We were really pleased to discover how much warmer we felt once we were down in the sheltered valley.

We walked along an ancient path towards Venford reservoir. We had a long rest in the middle to allow for essential tree climbing and games in the wood.

We had the luxury of benches to sit on and very smart toilets (possibly to celebrate it's 100th birthday?) at our reservoir lunch time stop.

We then followed the leat back to Combestone Tor which felt a tiny bit less windy and cold than when we arrived.

It was a perfect spring walking day with blazing sunshine throughout!
