On the 29th April 23 intrepid adults and children set off vertically uphill to the top of Yar Tor. It took about 20 minutes for all of us to gather there but it was well worth it – the views were spectacular.
The children had a good play but once the adults began to feel a bit cool in the brisk April breeze we set off downhill to look for warmer climes. As we left the farmer's field we met a very friendly dog who enjoyed playing with several children and a stick.
We had lunch in a field near Brimpt's farm and several of the children ate lunch in a tree. We then backtracked (to do the stepping stones again!) and walked on the other side of the Dart.
Edward kept up the family tradition by sinking well in to the mud (actually quite hard to find this year!) and losing a trainer in the deep brown sludge.
We found a suitable beach for the warm blooded to paddle/ swim in the river and we finally reached the car park at about 4pm ready for the ice cream round!
