NEW MEMBERS TO THE GROUP

We always welcome new members to the group. New members are invited to walk a couple of times to see if they enjoy walking with the group. If the walker decides to join the group, he/she should first join the Ramblers Association. Application forms are available from group officers or from the Ramblers Association web site. There is even an on-line application form from the RA web site.
The Ramblers Association will then inform us that you have joined and are now a member of our group, or of the group nearest you, if you don't live in Plymouth. No problems with walking with us though, even if you are not in our group, you can walk with any RA group in the UK once you've joined.

Walkers should ensure that when walking they have:
* Walking boots or equivalent and waterproof clothing
* A rucksack, suitable for carrying "eats and hot drinks" and spare clothing
* Written details of their name, address and home telephone together with their Doctors Name and contact number.

Walkers should make direct contact with the leader of a walk if they want additional information on a walk.

Car Sharing We usually operate a car share scheme for most walks whereby we meet at a location in Plymouth before making our way to the walk start location. This is particularly useful when there is limited car parking space at the walk start.
Some shorter walks may not give the start point on the walks list and on these walks those attending should meet at the car share point. Those for whom it would be inconvenient to come to the car share first should contact the leader to find out where the start point is.
If you do not have your own transport, but can get to the car share point, you may be able take advantage of the car share scheme but you must contact the leader and establish that you can arrange to be reliably met at the car share point and transported to the walk start.

Walks Etiquette
There are a couple of minor points to bear in mind:
Do not walk in front of the leader unless the leader invites you to go ahead, up a hill for example.
Bear in mind that the leader may suggest a comfort stop from time to time and suggest that men go ahead. A comfort stop??? There are very few toilets where we walk.
Listen to any instructions the leader may give regarding routes or breaks and be ready to move on when the leader requests. There is usually a few minutes notice given.
