Part of footpath 26 Buckland Monachorum will be closed for 6 months until May 2010. The section affected is 200 metres EAST and 100 metres WEST of where the new wooden footbridge crosses the Walkham.

SATURDAY 6TH FEB.
1. Strenuous walk of 10/11 miles along the coast. Catch the 9.20am bus to Lyme Regis and walk back to Beer via the ‘Under Cliff’ path. This path is a single track winding path over undulating terrain through woods, with some hazardous sections, and slippery steps to negotiate. Once on this path there is no alternative route back to Beer. Leader Martin Hills.
2. Moderate walk of 8 miles from Beer to Branscombe and back. Starting from the hostel. Through quiet lanes, fields and cliff paths with wonderful views from the coastal path.
SUNDAY 7TH FEB.
Leave the YHA at Beer and drive to Otterton where both walks start at about 10am.
1. Moderate walk of approximately 10 miles. Walking from Otterton along the river Otter to join the coastal path. Heading eastwards along the coast and returning to Otterton via a circular inland route. Walk leader Dave Button.
2. Moderate but easier walk than (1) of about 8 miles. Doing a figure of eight walk through the Otter valley via Budleigh Salterton and East Budleigh, using riverside paths and tracks.

Advance Notice : Penzance Walking Weekend 21st/23rd May 2010
A walking weekend in the West Penwith area has been arranged, staying at Penzance Youth Hostel
There will be long and short walks on Saturday and Sunday.
A number of places have been booked in 2-bed and 6-bed rooms. The cost for 2 nights is £43- 95 in 2-bed rooms and £35--90 in 6 bed dorms.Camping facilities are also available.

Barn Dance 19th June 2010
Plymouth Ramblers are holding a Barn Dance at Woolwell Community Centre, Darklake Lane (SX509616). Start time is 18.30 and finishing time is 22.30. Dancing will be to “The Ideal Village Band”. Please bring a “plate to share” and your own choice of “bottle”. Tea/Coffee will be provided. Moorland and Tavistck groups have been invited to join us.
